But if I THINK I’m without sin, what do I have to confess?
If you think you are without sin, the first thing to confess if the fact that you think you are without sin.
The very act of thinking you are without sin proves just how sinful you are.
That’s a great answer, Jeremy.
Actually I know that I have committed far too many sins and that I continue to do so – but I also realise that I don’t confess them anything like as often as I should.
Thanks for making me think.
I find it is important to keep a healthy tension in my life to keep me from straying too far one way or another: First, that I am utterly sinful and depraved

Second, the blood of Christ cleanses me from all my sin and there is therefore now no condemnation.
That helps me to keep the focus on me in a good way (aware of my sinfulness) but keeps the focus on Christ in a good way (aware of His forgiveness).
